How can we help?

Find answers to common questions about your photo library, purchases, and how Cleanup Today works.

How does the app work?
Cleanup Today shows the photos and videos you took on today’s date in previous years. Review them, keep what you want, and delete the rest.
What if I don’t have any photos from today’s date?
That’s fine. You’ll see a short note that there’s nothing from this date in past years, and you can mark the day complete and move on. As your library grows, more days will have memories to look back on.
Will my photos be permanently deleted?
No. Deleted items go to the Photos app’s Recently Deleted album, where they remain for 30 days before being permanently removed. You can recover them at any time within that window.
If I delete a photo, does it disappear from my other devices too?
Cleanup Today deletes photos exactly the way the Photos app does. If you use iCloud Photos, a deletion syncs to your other Apple devices and the item moves to Recently Deleted everywhere for 30 days. If you don’t use iCloud Photos, it only affects the device you’re on.
Do I need an internet connection?
For the basics, no. If your photos are stored on your device, you can review and delete them offline. But if you use iCloud Photos with “Optimize iPhone Storage” turned on, your full-resolution originals live in iCloud and only a smaller preview is kept on the device. In that case the app needs a connection to download an original before you view or share it, so over Wi-Fi or cellular you may see a brief loading spinner, and without a connection some items can appear blurry or fail to load. Deletions still work offline, but the change only syncs to your other Apple devices once you’re back online. Your streak and progress sync through iCloud, so they also need a connection to move between devices.
Does the app upload my photos anywhere?
No. Your photos stay in your photo library. The app does not upload them to us or to third-party analytics or advertising services. Some Apple services, such as purchases or iCloud progress sync, may use Apple’s systems.
Is this a subscription? What happens after the 7-day free trial?
No. Cleanup Today is not a subscription, and nothing is charged automatically. You get 7 days free, and when the trial ends a one-time $4.99 purchase unlocks the app for good. If you decide not to buy, you simply won’t be charged.
How do I restore a purchase?
Go to Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchase. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any device.
Will my streak and progress move to a new iPhone?
Yes, as long as iCloud is enabled. Your completed days, streaks, and cleanup stats sync through iCloud, so they follow you to a new device. Your free trial also follows your Apple ID, so it won’t restart on a new device, while your photos stay in your own photo library on each device.
Which devices does Cleanup Today work on?
Cleanup Today works on iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later. One purchase covers all your devices through your Apple ID.
How is this different from Apple’s built-in Duplicates album?
Apple’s Photos app has a built-in Duplicates album, but it only catches exact duplicates. It won’t group near-identical shots like burst photos or reshoots, and it doesn’t touch screenshots or other clutter. Cleanup Today groups duplicates, reshoots, and repeat screenshots together so you can compare them side by side, organized by the date they were taken. Read more →
